7th street theater ft worth tx flood 19491093 viewsThis was taken during a flood in 1949 in front of the 7th Street Theater in Fort Worth Texas, on the corner of 7th Street and University, known locally as "Six Points". Photo by Lee Angle. I used to work for Lee in the 80s, and he gave me this negative and many others he was throwing out during one of his many clean-and-toss sessions. I always thought it was a fantastic photo, so I thought that I'd share it.

1138 Clara St - published 1986, original date unknown1085 viewsConstructed in 1919, the design of this two-story stucco-clad residence was inspired by the Prairie Style houses of Frank Lloyd Wright, which incorporated shallow-pitched hip roofs with wide overhangs. Reputedly, it was built by its first owner, Ellis H. Boyd, part owner of a motor company and oil well manufacturing company in the 1920's. With further documentation, the house may be eligible for the National Register.

2304 Edwin St., circa 19301085 viewsPhoto courtesy of Tom and Eileen Richey. If you look closely at the bush in front of the chimney, you can see Bess Rector, who built the house in 1929. The Richeys received the photos from Bess Rector's son, Howard. The Richeys also have the original blueprints and builder's specs. Tom Richey says he has "compiled a history of ownership of the house over the years but nobody rich and famous ever lived here."altonjim

2300 Edwin St., circa 19211084 viewsThe current owner of this home at 2300 Edwin St. is Bill Martin, who purchased the house in 1969 from the Shotts family, the original owners. E.A. Shotts was president of Shotts Electric Co. and his wife was Hannah. The rear tenant at the time was Preston Jones. Bill says the house was built in 1921 and he has the abstract. Note the house behind 2300 Edwin. Part of the foundation of that house still stands in the empty lot at the southwest corner of Forest Park Boulevard and Mistletoe Avenue.
